through a fog
The eponymous Foo Fighters album is in my brain, which is somewhat strange. I feel like the weather yesterday: kind of foggy but with a bright sun that's giving me a bit of a headache. This might be because of the hours I spent editing footnotes today, or it might be because of the miles of travel that occurred over the long weekend. There is some chance it is because of the terrible, terrible Eagles defense, but I don't think it's that. Context: this is my last week of class. I turned in one paper today, have another to turn in Friday. Don't have grades on the finals I took. Four more finals to go.
Wednesday: Providence to Saratoga Springs was uneventful. Saratoga Springs to Newark was long and arduous and involved a relatively benign trip to the side of the road with a state trooper. Newark was as it always seems to have been, essentially.
Thursday: Thanksgiving was nice but rather saturated with melancholy this year, strangely.
Friday: morning was rather nice, coffee and driving around on back roads after being scared off by the shoppers. Newark to Bethesda was gentle, and Bethesda was welcoming once again. This year some new stories plus exposure to secondlife and Fantastic Planet.
Saturday: blueberry pancakes and a walk along Great Falls, then back Bethesda to Newark to Wilmington for good leftover Thanksgiving.
Sunday: scrapple and eggs before Newark to West Orange, then respite from West Orange to Providence. The cats were happy to see us, and I couldn't bring myself to do much work. Transitioning out of holiday mode.
Suddenly it's Monday. Writing, class, writing. I will try to write my other piece tomorrow. Summer's mother will be with us starting Thursday; two classes Friday. Probably will talk in all classes this week. I am ready for a most substantial break.
It will be classes, finals, Oregon.
