Labor Day

This evening Summer and I engaged in a 90s music retrospective [unable to come up with a more auditory equivalent], courtesy of this site. This ranged from Kris Kross to Puff Daddy, Toni Braxton to Natalie Imbruglia, and so on. It was quite fun.

Earlier in the day we had visited two state parks: Snake Den and Lincoln Woods. The former was mildly disappointing; the latter more developed but perfect for a nice little 2.5ish mile jaunt around a pond.

We have also been working on calculus as a prerequisite for Summer's stats class. It has been fun for me to revisit and remember the material, and to see her doing so well.

Furthermore we're a bit more than halfway through I, Claudius; in the next episode, John Hurt's brilliant Caligula should be succeeding Tiberius--exciting!

Earlier in the weekend, we saw lady in the water [lowercase to represent whispering] at Patriot. I found it fun, better than expected (amazing what low expectations will do for an ok movie), although it took itself a bit too seriously for the material, I think. Plus Summer mentioned the audacity of M. Night Shyamalan (pardon my spelling if I have erred) in casting himself in the role of future savior of humankind. Wow.

We also did a bit of back to school shopping at Burlington Coat Factory (which is, indeed, more than great coats). I got a cashmere sweater which fits me quite perfectly for $12 (down from $150, I believe).

Prior to that it had been the work week. I got in touch with many Community Land Trusters around the country to find out more about what they're doing (and, more pertinently, via what legal models); to me, at least, it was quite informative, and I hope that those to whom the information was submitted agree.

I also submitted those potential topics for a law review comment. I am going to look into whether making one of them a bit more of an international comparative law paper might be more interesting before my meeting to discuss the paper with the editors this Saturday (which is also my first Torture class).

I might yet post the paper I submitted to apply for Law Review; it seems a certain appellate court recently agreed with my conclusion, though I've yet to read the opinion to determine whether there was any overlap in reasoning; I suspect that, if so, it will be slight.

Regarding the Eagles, I love the Donte' Stallworth addition, though I'm sad to see Todd Pinkston go; I always had a sentimental attachment to the guy. Likewise Koy, though I've kind of thought for years that they almost kept him around more for team morale than playing ability. I am trying to figure out how to get my fill of Eagles games this season; I suppose I will likely rely on the old semi-reliable nfl.com GameCasts. I have two fantasy teams this year, both with Edge (of the Cards) and McNabb as my first two picks; I'm not sure how that strategy will work out, but I have good feelings about both this year.

There are lots of things I want to do tomorrow, among them catching up on my communications. Also baking cookies. And running. And then, of course, there's homework. Ah well. But no classes! Goodnight.

I trust that N.I.'s "Torn" was not part of the 90s music montage, as we had the ceremonial last-playing several years ago... ;)
