I AM ALIVE
and in the Roger Williams University law library.
Summer and I moved into our apartment earlier this week. I like it quite a bit. It is a bit scary since Summer left, though. Living in a still foreign place by yourself is strange.
I have, however, greatly enjoyed cooking for myself. I've had some delicious meals.
I've also been looking for jobs. I have an interview at Kohl's next week. Many places don't seem to be hiring.
I did manage to get my financial aid business straighted out here today.
Oh by the way before all this, I and Summer and my family went to Italy. It was pretty darn fantastic. I could've adjusted to the lifestyle, I think, of swimming every day and taking day trips to Rome and Florence, as well as little towns like Ferentillo (of mummy museum fame) and Carsulae (Roman ruins). Plus it was good to spend time with so many excellent people. Excellent people should come visit sometime.
Now I think I will see if there are any help wanted postings in Bristol, then try and find my way home. Please don't be offended if I haven't written you back yet. Once we have access in the apartment, replies will flow like water.

Addendum:
I wanted to mention some books and movies for your edification. In the past couple weeks, I have read:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince J.K. Rowling
The Magician's Nephew C.S. Lewis
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe C.S. Lewis
The Glass Bead Game Hermann Hesse
Choke Chuck Pahlaniuk
The Screwtape Letters C.S. Lewis
I have seen:
Hotel Rwanda
National Treasure
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I recommend the following:
The Glass Bead Game ranks right up there with The Mezzanine (Nicholson Baker) and Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov) but is probably better than either of those; it has a similar tricky, allusory style to any of Nabokov's works, a level of detail and beautifully precise narration (for which I must in part thank the translators and wish I could read it in German) like Baker's, but has a bit more to say, in a non-preachy sort of way. I think any further description would make it sound less interesting than it was, but if I were you and I had not read it, let's just say that it would be the next book I'd pick up at the library.
Hotel Rwanda was thoroughly disturbing and should probably be required viewing. The acting and all that is fantastic, but it's more than the sum of its parts.
Harry Potter is of course a great page-turner, and very fun, but this newest installment is rather darker than any of the others, and seems perhaps to be a tiny bit political in its depiction of the Ministry of Magic. At any rate I appreciated the darkness and the whole book, and you likely would, too.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was fun. The oompa-loompas this time around seem to be primarily Danny Elfman having a lot of fun, and Wonka himself seems to be Johnny Depp having a lot of fun. The overall look and style is Tim Burton having a lot of fun. Get the idea?
Ok, that's all for now.

Max, it's nice to know you are safely settled and eating well. Somehow, it is comforting that you are writing your blogs again.
Good luck at finding a job.
