Tic Tac Toe
Just wanted to share that I had another decent meet today, finally hitting over 40 ft. (12.20m to be precise) in shot and over 110 ft. (34.21m I think) in the discus. While these fall significantly short of my preseason goals (13m realistic for shot, 45 ft. as what is now a major stretch, and 35m realistic for discus (very attainable Friday), 120 ft. as a bit of a stretch but also an attainable goal), they are still much better than I had been throwing and hopefully bode well for what will likely be my last-ever track meet on Friday. If I pick up my shot a little bit I could qualify for conference and get one more meet; discus remains a long shot, not surprisingly since I just picked it up last year and have continued to better my previous best almost every meet since I started.
I have a few other items of business:
1) Summer and I might be flying to Providence this weekend. Now wouldn't that be exciting?
2) It looks like I might have wrangled some company to see Dick Dale at the Cabooze, making up for that time I missed him to see Fog.
3) I "borrowed" a bunch of good music from Andy tonight; that was good.
4) I am procrastinating on my journal for history of jazz.
Finally, I wanted to leave you with a poem I like, which I shared with a select audience this weekend:
That is all.

The Two-Headed Calf
Laura Gilpin
Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.
That is all.

I like it too...beautiful, but sad. One winter when pp and i were in fl we went to an unusual place. They had had a two headed cow for a number of years and, aside from the heads, it led a regular cow life...probably better because it was "displayed" and treated kindly.
Safe travels and good luck with the "hunting".
